Round Two - The Oz Principle

Change the Culture, Change the Game

ATTENTION ATTENTION ATTENTION.  It's the Green Reader here with an announcement for everyone out there in the Emerald City.  The 2nd book has been chosen by the Wiz himself.  We are reading The Oz Principle.  Captains, please let me know how many munchkins from your office want in!  Send a head count by Friday, February 24th or I'll have the flying monkeys after you.  I will ship out the books via tornado and we will plan to have our individual book clubs in May.  (sorry, these red sparkly slippers are making me quite punchy!)

WE'RE NOT IN KANSAS ANYMORE! (well, except for Jason)

Art of Possibility - Update

Image DetailThe green reader is currently having a temper tantrum and I'm putting myself in time out.   I need to go back to the drawing board on how to communicate book club with you since the blog is confusing everyone or maybe i am confusing everyone.  Either way, there is confusion and the green reader doesn't like confusion.

For those who have finished the book, that's great!  Please post your comments on the book to this blog so everyone can see how much you enjoyed it and how you are applying it to your work life, and even everyday life (thank you Rachel for your awesome comment).  Each office should get together with those in your specific office who have signed up for the book club.  The original plan was to do this on Friday, but it doesn't have to be.  Each office, get together and pick a date that works within the next 2 weeks and then tell your Director I said that lunch was on Steve (they'll put it on their company AMEX).   Do a couple of things for me at this meeting:

1. Choose a book club captain
2. book club captain, collect the email addresses of each person who is attending book club (they do not have to be Schlesinger emails, they can be personal).
3. Discuss the book and take notes.
4.  Team Captain, email me your notes with the list of email addresses and i will post them to the blog for all to see.

I'll be facing the wall with my nose in the corner for now.  Once i have a new brilliant brainiack (is this a word???) plan, I'll be back!

The Art of Possibility - Are you reading???

hey Schlesingerites - I am getting lonely up here in my Book Club treehouse.  Can you reach out and tell me how you are doing with the book?  What do you think?  Will you be ready for Book Club on Friday the 6th?  I'm a fan "Giving an A", what about you?  Which practices speak to you?

Happy Reading!

Art of Possibility - THE BOOKS ARE COMING

After a lengthy conversation with the fraud department at American Express, the books are on there way to each office!  Directors, in most cases I've addressed the packages to you; so please check out who signed up and pass out the goods as soon as you can!  I think the majority of offices will receive the books on Monday.

Laura in London - I need you to handle the order for your office.  Overseas shipping was not in the budget...

The Art of Possibility - SIGN UP

The Green Reader is super stoked you've joined the club!  This is going to rock.  I bet you are wondering how this is all going to work.  It's going to be fun I promise.  Right now let's just focus on reading the first book and we can cover logistics at during the first meeting.   Are you ready for your first book choice?

What do music and management have in common?  Don't ask me... I dunno!

Join me in reading The Art of Possibility by Benjamin Zander and Rosemund Stone Zander.  The book club will take place in each facility on January 6, 2012 at 12:00pm.  Oh! Oh! I have good news, I talked to the big boss man (cool ponytail by the way), and he said LUNCH IS ON HIM!  Yep, if you join the book club and come to the meetings, you get free lunch.  I love free lunch!

Please comment to this post with YOUR NAME and your OFFICE location (Example:  Mike Sullivan - New Jersey) by November 13th to participate in the January book club.  I'll get the books out to everyone, and directors in each office, if you could help by passing out the books, I would really appreciate it.  Do you already have a copy???  If you could still post that you are participating with your Name and Office, then a note saying, "don't need book" or something like that, i'll get the picture and not order another one for you.

Do you want extra credit?  Go to YouTube and type in the name of the book or Benjamin Zander.  There are some incredible videos of the Zan Man in action.

I can't wait to talk about the book!  Happy Learning.

Psst, hey there, PSST, you in recruiting; yeah you, and you over there in all black, and Mister IT guy, yeah, I'm talking to you.  You peering from behind that computer, STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND READ ME!

It's the Green Reader here, and I've got some fantastic news for all of you.  We are starting a new super duper club at Schlesinger Associates and I GET TO BE IN CHARGE!  I've got the keys to the blogging palace, and I'm inviting you to be my guest.  So, what is this cool, awesome, fun, fantastic club I'm referring to??? It's the Green Reader's Book Club! (I just heard you gasp in excitement - I know, it's awesome right!).

This book club will be focused around fun and learning and is open to the entire company!  My book club, The Green Reader, will take place quarterly and will meet in each individual facility in January, April, July and October.  Do you have a short attention span like me?  Never fear, the blog is here!  This blog will be live at all times, so I guess technically we all hold the keys to the blogging palace... Please come anytime and post questions, comments, and suggestions.

Did I hear someone shout, WOO HOO, SIGN ME UP?  So cool, you guys rock. Here is how it works; you will need to create a Google account so that you can "follow" our blog.  Books will be posted on the blog quarterly. When you are notified that a new book has been posted; you will have 5 days to respond to the blog letting me know you plan to attend.  The books will be provided to you by Schlesinger Associates.    I'm a fan of books and love new friends, so please participate. Nudge that person next to you and ask them to join as well.  I promise it won't hurt...

Not an avid reader?  That's fine! You can opt in and out of each book club, there is no pressure.

Come get to know your colleagues and learn a lot!
Are you excited?  Oh boy, oh boy, this is going to be GRRRREAT.
